Simona Calzavara is a social worker and AMHP (Approved Mental Health Professional) currently working for the City and Hackney Foundation Trust since February 2012 in the EQUIP Team (Early and Quick Intervention for Psychosis). Prior to that she worked for Hackney Social Services as a care manager/social worker. At EQUIP she works with adults from the age of 18 to 65 who suffer from first episode of psychosis, helping them to manage their own recovery in the long term using the recovery model. The recovery model/process provides a holistic view of people with mental health problems that focuses on the person, not just their symptoms. Simona also works as an AMHP at Homerton Hospital twice a month, carrying out Mental Health Act assessments. She is a participant on the first full Open Dialogue training programme in the UK.
